British Canoeing today launched the one year countdown to the ICF 2019 Canoe Slalom World Cup, London, with this new dedicated events website.
The website launch means visitors can now access ticket priority windows, volunteering opportunities and a free sign-up for information.
The World Cup event is being held at Lee Valley White Water Centre on 14-16 June 2019. This was the iconic venue for the London 2012 Olympic Games. This will be the first international slalom competition in the UK since 2015.
It will be a great opportunity for canoeing enthusiasts, sports fans and the local community to see the Great Britain team take on the world’s best paddlers in their build up to the Tokyo 2020 Games.
Newcomers to the sport can also experience a world-class, value for money day out at Lee Valley White Water Centre. Mallory Franklin, Great Britain’s current World Champion in the women’s C1 event said:
“It will be fantastic to paddle the World Cup in front of a home crowd.
“I raced the World Cup at Lee Valley in 2014 and the World Championships here in 2015. Both atmospheres and the sheer amount of people in attendance made it an incredible venue to compete in.
“I love paddling at Lee Valley. It is my favourite course and to be able to race a senior race here again
is going to be amazing.”
Website launch delivers priority tickets
Tickets for the World Cup will go on sale in October 2018 via two priority windows. The first is for British Canoeing On the Water and On the Bank members. They will receive 15% off ticket prices.

Becoming a volunteer
The website also provides the opportunity to join the ‘Canoe Crew’. Become a volunteer at the event alongside other British Canoeing international and domestic events. Details on how to sign up and a full list of the volunteer roles can be found here.
In April 2017 British Canoeing was awarded the hosting rights for the ICF 2019 Canoe Slalom World Cup and the 2020 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships.
Lee Valley White Water Centre will host both events. UK Sport and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority also support both events.
British Canoeing was also successful in bidding for the 2021 ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships. The National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham will be the host. This is as part of its international events strategy.
