Schools and Community Groups

Spectating

Schools and community groups are welcome to attend the event to spectate, free of charge throughout the event.

Whilst the event is open to the public, we ask larger groups to book in order to help manage provisions on site.

There will be a few short breaks in competition but there’s lots going on with activity taking place:

  • Monday 27th June – 09:00 – 17:30
  • Tuesday 28th June  – 09:00 – 20:20
  • Wednesday 29th June  – 09:00 – 20:30 – including finals from 18:25
  • Thursday 30th June – 09:00 – 20:30 – including finals from 19:30
  • Friday 1st July – 09:00 – 18:30 – including finals from 17:00
  • Saturday 2nd July – 11:00 – 20:30 – including finals from 11:00 – 14:00 and 18:00 – 20:30

Have a Go

There is an opportunity for schools and community groups to book sessions to have a go on the winfield pool next to the white water course.

Groups of up to 30 can book a 1-hour session which will then be split into 2 groups of 15 so that participants get 30 mins each on the water. Bookings are filling up fast but there is still slots are available at:

  • Monday 27th June – 13:30
  • Tuesday 28th June – 10:00, 11:00, 13:30, 18:00 & 19:00
  • Wednesday 29th June – 11:00, 18:00 & 19:00
  • Thursday 30th June – 13:30, 18:00 & 19:00
  • Friday 1st July – 10:00 & 13:30

Everyone taking part will be able to receive a British Canoeing Start Award

This is free of charge but booking in advance is essential. Sessions are available for young people aged KS2 and above.

Schools and groups are able to attend with larger groups spectating and up to 30 taking part in the activity.

Adopt a Nation & Opening Ceremony

Schools and community groups are invited to adopt a nation that is taking part in the event. This will allow them to show support for athletes from those nations, as well as hopefully seeing them compete in the World Championships and engaging with them around the event*.

There is also the opportunity for a young person from each group to parade with that nation at the opening ceremony which will take place at Nottingham Castle in the evening of Sunday 26th June.

*This will be subject to training and competition times for the athletes from that nation.

Schools are able to access a Primary Schools Activity Pack for a range of activities to do with children in the lead up to the event.
