National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont Country Park

Holme Pierrepont Country Park is home to the National Water Sports Centre and is the headquarters of British Canoeing.

As well as a host of outdoor and adventure activities being available across the site, the venue includes canoe polo pitches, a 2km Regatta Lake and an international standard white water course, which will host the 2022 ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships.

The Great Britain Olympic Sprint and Paralympic Paracanoe performance programme train on the lake where the National Sprint Regattas also take place throughout the year.

The white water course is 700m long with water flowing through straight from the River Trent. As well as hosting a selection of domestic canoe slalom, wild water racing and canoe freestyle events, the venue also hosted the 2004 ECA European Freestyle Championships and the 2009 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships. It is now looking forward to hosting the ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships in 2022.

How to get there

By Road

Nottingham is located centrally in the UK and as it is just off the M1 motorway, it is easily accessible from across the country. The National Water Sports Centre is just 10 minutes from Nottingham City Centre.

To find the venue, follow the brown tourist signs for the National Water Sports Centre which will direct you to the site. As you approach the site follow the signs for the White Water Course.

By Rail

Nottingham Railway Station is the closest station to the venue and is a 1 hour walk or 10 minute drive. The station has excellent links to the mainline rail network and you can travel direct from London in 1 hour 40 minutes.

By Air

Given its central location, Nottingham is relatively close to a number of UK airports. The closest ones are East Midlands Airport (20 minutes drive) and Birmingham International Airport (45 minutes drive).
