How you can get involved in the World Championships

The 2022 ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships are heading to the National Water Sports Centre in Nottingham, from 27 June to 2 July 2022, and there are lots of ways for the local community to get involved.

Spectating

The event is free to attend so people can head to the site to see the best athletes in the world take to the water.

There will also be plenty of other activities taking place across the site with opportunities for people to have a go on the water, book on to one of the many land based activities available and explore the stands and stalls in the market.

Visit the Spectators page to find out more.

Volunteering

In order to make the event a huge success, we will need volunteers to help make it happen. There are a range of roles available and you don’t need to be an expert in canoe freestyle, or have even volunteered before, we will find a role to suit you. There are also roles, such as within the ceremonies team which are ideally suited to local people who are only available in the evenings or at the weekends.

To find out more visit the volunteers page where there is additional information and a simple application form.

Schools & Community Groups

Throughout the week, schools and community groups are very welcome on site. There are opportunities to spectate or to book ‘have a go’ sessions on the water. You can even adopt a nation to support throughout the week.

The Schools and Community Groups page has more information and will have the application form once it’s open.

Community Market

On Saturday 2 July, the event will host a market for local traders to be able to sell products to the community and those attending the event.

The site is always packed on a sunny Saturday in July, even without the World Championships, so we are looking forward to welcoming lots of visitors.

Applications are now open for stall holders who would like to book a pitch so visit the market page to find out more.
